Everybody loves it when their fruit and vegetables are ripe and ready to go for baking and meal preparation. Here are 3 tips on how to ripen your favourite ingredients!
BAKE IT
Place your unripened bananas on a tray and bake in the oven at 120C for around 30-40 minutes until black! Now they are perfect to add to your banana muffins! You can also try a similar method with Avocados. Wrap your avocado in aluminium foil and bake in the oven at 100c for 5-10 minutes.
BAG IT
Use a paper bag to ripen your fruit or veg! Paper bags trap the ethylene gas, which ages the fruit or veg, and as a result it speeds up the aging process.
RICE IT
Try placing the fruit in dry rice. The rice also helps to trap the ethylene gas and therefore speeds up the ripening process.
